Telecom planned works with VC4’s IMS
Before a telecom service provider carries out any planned work through a network, our Inventory & Management System (IMS) can work out how exactly this will affect the service customers are receiving.
In the event of downtime occurring due to a fault with a planned task, IMS allows the company to inform any affected customers via email, with these messages being able to be sent directly from the telecom network assessment software to customers, using dedicated planned work email templates.
The tool is multi-language, so different departments based throughout the world can each create their own template to best suit their customers’ needs.
Registering planned work orders with IMS
IIMS allows service providers to register and reference a variety of planned work orders, with links to the following types of information:
- Start date/time
- End date/time
- Outage time
- Reference number
- Related trouble ticket numbers
- Whether or not the customer has been informed of the change to the service
- The type of work being carried out. For example: normal, third-party, emergency
Network Impact analysis with IMS
VC4’s telecom network assessment tool can also carry out impact analysis, predicting the extent of the effect that planned work will have on a company’s customers.
Engineers specialising in this type of work can import multiple impacted network items into IMS, with the software then carrying out a calculation of all sub-connections and services running over these, working out which will go down or have a switch in place to protect them.
The customer can then be informed of this via an email sent directly from the IMS tool.

- Leased Line
