Outside Plant Management

Outside plant Management System

Similar to the inside plant functionality, the outside plant (OSP) information can be managed as well. The outside plant management system in IMS contains essentially the following information:

Outside Plant - Cable Route Outside Plant
Cable Route
  • Fiber and copper cables
  • Fibers
  • Copper connections
  • Microwave connections
  • DDF/ODF’s inside the building
  • Manholes
  • Poles
  • Spliceboxes
  • Splitters

Geographical information

The geographical fiber routings can be defined as well.

OSP and it’s relation with other networks

From the physical fiber/copper network it is easy to navigate to the active networks, like MPLS, Ethernet, GPON, SDH, SONET, WDM.

In case of a fiber/copper cable cut, IMS can easily calculate all connections and (customer) services that are routed over this cable.
